What Is Affiliate Marketing

I suppose many people think of affiliate marketing as just the basics. In reality, if you want to do very well in affiliate marketing, you really have to enhance your scope a little more. Not everyone is intuitively good with business, and what is affiliate marketing to a complete newbie is too constrained.

Take for instance the idea that you should build a website and collect emails and market through emails. Does it work? Sure it does! But the fact is, there are many ways to skin a cat. Emails can be sent with different forms of content, and you know that affiliate marketing requires "relative content" in order for you to fit the affiliate marketing offer together with your message to your audience.

You want PULL content.

Pull content refers to people who actually want it in the first place. They go out of their way to get it. It's highly valuable, not just another ebook or another study course out there. They know it's treasured and they might kill to get it.

You want ORIGINAL content.

Content and products always go through a certain product life cycle. If you have got a lot more original content, then as an affiliate marketer, you will be far more effective in what you are capable of doing. Affiliate marketing strategies will continue to evolve as altered content takes the reins in the search engines. You will want to find a competitive advantage in making sure your content is rock solid.

You want VIRAL content.

If you have viral content, it means it will be passed around. In the good old days, people used to have ebooks passed around with "distribution rights". However, the nature of the people who actually pass this around needs to be scrutinized. Do you know how these people think? Do you know how they react? Is it possible at all to develop the capability of generating viral content in a way that makes people WANT to send it to their friends? At the crux of it, your content should have a strong appeal to the emotion. The more of it the better.

New affiliate marketers (as well as some experienced ones) also fail to look at the expansion of the business model. How is it possible for you to break the conventional way of doing things? How do you scale your business from $1000 or $10000 to $50,000 or more a month? There's far more to affiliate marketing that has not yet been explored, and a lot of it has to do with the way we develop our ideas.

I've been watching affiliate marketing launches and have realized that the most powerful affiliate marketing approaches are also the most creative ones. They grab our attention and keep it there. Creative ideas cannot be used or reused because of the mindshare that occupies people's heads. You can, however, change the context of use. If you are using the "milliondollarhomepage" idea, you have to use it in a modified, innovated context. If you are doing "product launch formula" you should use it in a different place other than, say, the internet marketing space where it has been used to death.

As affiliate marketing evolves, it is our creativity and our ability to blend different flavors of the net to reach out to our customers and sell. After all, at the end of all that's said and done, we still want our customers to buy from us again and again. Keep innovating and developing more affiliate marketing approaches that work.
